DARKPOOL / FAQ

Darkpool guide

The chart compares off-exchange short activity with the S&P 500 price, session by session. Find data and chart control information here.

What does the Darkpool index measure?

Darkpool summarises the short-volume share of off-exchange trades in S&P 500 constituents. This daily percentage index describes trading flow without identifying participants or open positions.

How do I read it alongside the S&P 500?

Both lines share the same dates. Darkpool uses percentages on the left axis; the S&P 500 uses points on the right. The scales are independent: crossing lines do not mean equal values. The cursor shows the same session, and you can separate the series into two panels.

How do I use the chart controls?

1W shows the last five sessions, 1M the last thirty days, 1Y the last year and Max the full history. Drag to pan, use plus and minus to zoom or select calendar dates. Tap or use arrow keys to inspect a session. Series buttons show or hide each line.

When is the data updated?

Daily data is updated after the session closes, when available. Dates use UTC. If updates are delayed, the page flags this and retains the last verified data. These are not real-time quotes.

How much history is available?

History starts on 2 January 2018 and includes only sessions with verified data. Missing S&P 500 prices remain unavailable. Historical coverage does not establish that the data was available for a backtest at that time.

Is GEX available yet?

GEX is shown but disabled. The chart currently offers Darkpool and S&P 500; no estimates or substitute GEX series are displayed.
